# Voice and your data

> What happens to a Pilotie voice message: where it goes, which speech services see it, what is stored and what is not.

1. **Your browser** records the message after you allow the microphone.
2. **The workspace** receives the clip. It checks the size (6 MB), the length (2 minutes 10 seconds) and your daily number of messages (150 per workspace).
3. **A speech service** writes it out: by default Groq (Whisper large-v3-turbo), then OpenAI (gpt-4o-mini-transcribe) if the first fails. The workspace's own log keeps a short description of the clip, never the audio.
4. **The text** is stored as your message, marked Voice.
5. **The audio** is not kept after it was read.

## A hint, not a profile

The names in your workspace (people, projects) are sent along as a short hint, so they are spelled right.

> [!HONEST]
> The speech services are third parties with their own terms. Which provider keys are set on your workspace is something we tell you in your invitation. Without a key the app uses a labelled stand-in text.
